Access Control:Waist Height Turnstiles

Waist high turnstiles, or tripod turnstiles are actually three-arm turnstiles that are placed at waist height. They are used to control access into or out of a point of entry so that only a single person gets access at a time. These rugged turnstiles have a variety of uses.

Waist High Turnstile Variations:

Waist high turnstiles have various finishes, shapes, and functionality. They can even have sleek stainless steel or rugged powder coated finishes. These turnstiles are mainly used to lock the entry or exit, and can even spin freely. Waist high turnstiles sometimes come with square edges like DS SPEEDSTILE Flap Leaf Speed Gate models or there are also some turnstiles with round edges like CCTV KING-1201-M Manual Vertical Tripod models.

Waist High Turnstile Applications:

A waist-high turnstile is mainly used for access control. These turnstiles look great compared to full height turnstiles, so you can often see them in customer service environments and at stadiums, sports and entertainment venues. Waist high turnstiles are a great solution to have a control on access points without seeming too intense.

Opposite to doors, Waist Height Turnstiles keep a limit on the number of people who take entry  or exit on each presented credential and control the direction of passage. In order to enter through a turnstile, the person must first show a valid credential. Thus the barriers are unlocked and after one person has passed it immediately relocks. Some turnstiles also have some advanced detection features to recognize and notify of instances such as tailgating, loitering and forced passage. An alarm will be triggered if there is any unauthorized entry attempt and  the guards will be notified and alert the control center of the conflict.
